“Entropy in Protopia” was a collaborative event with Rendrd, Meta, and Artscape Daniels Launchpad, spearheaded by Will Selviz. This initiative focused on how BIPOC creators utilize emerging technologies to express their cultural narratives and showcase their unique perspectives. The event aimed to dismantle barriers that often prevent marginalized communities from establishing a presence in creative spaces.
A collaboration between Rendrd, Meta, and Artscape Daniels Launchpad, the event explored Afro-surrealist themes of belonging, the immigrant experience, and speculative futures. With a focus on empowering underrepresented creatives through cutting-edge technology, it featured panel discussions, the Meta VR headset, and an interactive art showcase by local artists. Our goal was to reflect these themes visually, ensuring the signage captured the essence of both culture and tech.
In addition to my design work, I participated as a panelist speaker, discussing the intersection of culture and technology. This opportunity allowed me to engage with attendees and share insights on the importance of representation and innovation in the creative economy.
The event facilitated discussions on the role of emerging technologies in self-expression, showcased Meta’s VR capabilities, and provided a platform for dialogue about BIPOC experiences. It aimed to break down barriers that hinder access for underrepresented communities in creative economies.
As part of a team of designers, I focused on creating impactful signage that resonated with the event’s themes. My design approach incorporated Afro-surrealist aesthetics and contemporary graphic design, aiming to foster an immersive experience that engaged attendees and cultivated a sense of community.
