In Translation: Art to Art was an art and audio exhibition debuting in downtown Toronto in 2022, marking the third solo exhibition of Nigerian-born, Toronto-based artist Ugonna Ikechi. For this exhibition, we developed a bold signage system that complemented the interior layout and color palette of the venue, enhancing the immersive experience for attendees.
We collaborated closely with the artist Ugonna Ikechi and the venue host to deliver a comprehensive suite of assets for the exhibit. This included print signage systems, motion graphics for the main exhibition room, e-banners for ticketing, and a targeted social media campaign aimed at engaging Toronto’s independent art scene youth.
This project allowed us to explore the storytelling potential of design, merging different artistic expressions within a gallery context. My focus was on creating an inviting atmosphere that encouraged audiences to engage in a multisensory dialogue, fostering deeper connections between the artworks and the viewers.
